ISPM 15 Heat Treatment
International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that directly addresses the need to treat wood materials of a thickness greater than 6 mm, used to ship products between countries.
- Prevents international spread of plant diseases & insects
- Covers all wood packaging: pallets, crates, dunnage, etc.
- Requires debarking + heat treatment or fumigation
- Compliant products are stamped with the 'wheat stamp' mark
- Mandatory for exports to most international markets
Fumigation Treatment
Fumigation with Methyl bromide (CH₃Br) is performed as part of ISPM 15 compliance. Methyl bromide is a broad-spectrum pesticide used in the control of insects, nematodes, pathogens, and rodents. It is primarily used as a fumigant in stored product pest management.
